The COVID-19 pandemic is one of the biggest global challenge that human beings have ever faced. To respond, on March 13th, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), announced the launch of the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, which was jointly established by WHO, the UN Foundation and the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation. the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation.This fund allows individuals, foundations, and companies to donate to support WHO and its partners to prevent, detect, and respond to this pandemic.
Donations will provide critical materials such as personal protective equipment for frontline health workers; help communities around the world access important information about the virus to prevent infections, protect themselves, and take care of people in need; and accelerate the research and development of testing tools, treatments, and vaccines. Funds raised will be allocated as outlined in the COVID-19 Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan.
CPWF Calls for Fundraising to Combat Global Pandemic
